St. Joseph's Youth (SJY)

Calling all 9th-12th graders!
Our Youth Group meets (almost) every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The layout of each week remains largely the same:
6:30–snacks and hang out time (games, sports (weather permitting), cards, and coloring if you prefer something quieter)
7-8–main session
Discipleship Groups (2 times a month)
Large Group talk/formation (building on what is being discussed in D-Groups)
Revive Night with the Parish (begins at 6:30 with social/SJY specific activities after)
8-8:30–Adoration (mix of silent, guided lectio/meditation, and praise and worship music)
We encourage youth to come every week to continue to build a strong community. If you can’t make it every week, please don’t hesitate to come when you can.

Why Discipleship Groups?
It is easy to come to a large youth group every week and not feel known. It’s also easier to hide that way and allow our faith to remain surface-level. We have seen the importance of small groups as a way to more intentionally get to know one another and hold each other accountable. The term “Discipleship” Group points to our desire that our youth group not just be a program high schoolers can attend but an opportunity to learn to follow Christ so closely that He permeates everything we do.

PRAYER FOR THE YOUTH OF OUR PARISH AND SCHOOL
O Lord Jesus Christ, keep these young people in your love. Let them hear your voice and believe what you say, for you alone have the words of life. Teach them how to profess their faith, bestow their love,
and impart their hope to others.
Make them convincing witnesses to your Gospel in a world so much in need of your saving grace.
Make them the new people of the Beatitudes, that they may be the salt of the earth and the light of the world...
Mary, Mother of the Church, protect and guide these young men and women of the Twenty-first Century.
Keep us all close to your maternal heart. Amen.
