“Are you able to … be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?” (Mark 10:38)
The Theology and Spirituality of Baptism following the Catechism of the Catholic Church
The Church of St. Joseph offers this series of presentations on the Theology and Spirituality of Baptism during the penitential season of Lent. Lent is the season of preparation for Baptism for those coming to faith in Jesus Christ. For those already baptized, it is the season of preparing for the celebration of the Paschal Mystery in Holy Week and especially the Sacred Triduum, the very source of Baptism, and the renewal and deepening of baptismal faith. The series will be based on the article of the Catechism of the Catholic Church that sets forth the Church’s faith in what God has revealed about the Sacrament of Baptism. Following the Catechism, Prof. Bushman will emphasize the place of Baptism in salvation history, and the effects that this sacrament produces in the lives of the faithful and in the life of the Church.
